WELCOME TO MY EPORTFOLIOMy name is Mika Cook – I am a future trainee solicitor at Linklaters, and a recent graduate of the postgraduate Common Law LLB at the University of Glasgow. My recent work history includes my roles as tutor on the ILM-accredited Professional Skills Programme, presented by Pearson Communication for the College of Social Sciences, and Graduate Skills Programme tutor in the College of Social Sciences Employability Team.
My strengths are derived from my varied background. Before starting my LLB, I previously graduated with a First Class Honours in Celtic & Scottish Literature from the University of Edinburgh. At that time, I also worked as a Publishing Assistant for 404 Ink, entered into office as Co-Chair for the Society of Young Scotland and volunteered for Shelter Scotland. My background in the creative sector has provided me with a keen eye for detail, strong leadership and teamwork skills and the ability to effectively communicate and manage my time. My roles as tutor for both the Professional Skills Programme and Graduate Skills Programme for the College of Social Sciences at the University of Glasgow have proven me to be a fast and independent learner with high emotional intelligence, and who is motivated by working with, and for, others. These skills have helped me develop both a commercial and client-focussed approach to my career in law.
